White Wine by Matanzas Creek from Sonoma County, California. Winemaker Fran?ois Cordesse's passion for Sauvignon Blanc is evident in the sophisticated, yet spirited, nature of this 2006 vintage wine. Comprised of primarily Sauvignon Blanc, this blend also includes 13% Sauvignon Musque, a clonal cousin to Sauvignon Blanc that balances the wine's acidity, strengthens the mid-palate and provides a longer finish. Estate-owned vineyards in Sonoma County's Alexander Valley and Knights Valley are the primary source of this wine's Sauvignon Blanc fruit, while Sonoma County's Knights Valley is the source of the Sauvignon Musque fruit. The translucent, pale straw color of this wine is followed by a fresh bouquet of pink grapefruit and melon. Emulating the nose, the palate of crisp citrus and melon flavor carries a hint of dry white herb, and is accompanied by a soft, round mouthfeel. This supple quality distinguishes Fran?ois' wine from many of the popular green, grassy-style Sauvignon Blancs, and is achieved by fermenting 21% of the final blend in French oak barrels.

White Wine by Murphy-Goode from Sonoma County, California. Our Fume Blanc is mostly stainless steel tank fermented to promote the varietal flavors that each vintage offers us from the vineyard. A small portion of the blend is barrel fermented in neutral small oak cooperage to increase the texture of the final wine without adding oak flavors or aromas. Our goal is to create a wine with great Sauvignon Blanc rich fruit intensity. -Winemaker David Ready Jr. Fume Blanc has been a bright star in Murphy-Goode's portfolio since 1985, their first vintage. Superior fruit and minimal handling are the keys to our success. Here is a mouthful of refreshing fruit flavors - citrus, nectarines and white peaches - with an aromatic hint of lemongrass. A blending component of Sauvignon Musque adds floral components and rounds the wine's texture. Murphy-Goode Fume Blanc is an appealing and popular wine with appetizers, salads, grilled chicken or fish, light sauces and lighter dishes in general. The wine's succulent fruit and good acidity complement fresh seafood, particularly shellfish.
