White Wine by Cakebread from Napa Valley, California. Cakebread Cellars' Napa Valley Chardonnay is light straw in color with a glint of gold. Its aromas are reminiscent of green apples and the faint scent of apricots with a clean scent of mineral suggestive of flint. These impressions are repeated on the palate with a very slight buttery finish and a subtle hint of French oak vanillin in the background. Good depth with an ideal balance of fruit and crisp acidity lead into a fresh, silky finish.

White Wine by Calera from Central Coast, California. The 2006 Central Coast Chardonnay is wonderfully vibrant. Bright, fresh varietal aromas are accented with notes of citrus, pineapple and exotic tropical fruits. On the palate, excellent structure and balance promote the wine's alluring combination of ripe fruit flavors, accented with floral notes and a nice touch of oak.

Intense, elegant and clean nose, where the tropical fruits, pineapple and citrus, predominate on very nice toasty notes coming from a well integrated wood. Delicious, fleshy and nicely-structured wine in the mouth, with a well balanced acidity that keeps it alive. A good alliance of freshness and complexity.

In an effort to produce a super premium wine, the winemaking team of Catena began in depth investigations into the yields within each of their specially selected, high altitude vineyards, identifying those lots which produce the best fruit. These vines undergo a careful thinning process, leaving only a select few clusters, resulting in remarkably complex, aromatic and flavorful fruit. Through the application of natural, gentle vinification techniques, these grapes are transformed into Catena Alta. The 2005 Catena Alta Chardonnay has a bright yellow - greenish color. The nose offers white stone fruits with a touch of banana and mango, notes of sweet spice and pan grille. The mouthfeel is full and rich, but with wonderful freshness, showing ripe pear and fig flavors with light notes of tropical fruit and delicate floral tones. The finish is long and lingering with wonderful minerality and clean, crisp acidity.

White Wine by Catena from Argentina, South America. Catena Zapata's 2006 Chardonnay was sourced from three estate vineyards and fermented with natural yeasts. It then spent 10 months sur-lie in French oak, 40% new. Light gold-colored with a slight green tint, it exhibits a nose of slate, toast, butterscotch, pear, and apple. Medium-bodied, the wine is nicely balanced by crisp acidity, and the flavors are intense and persistent. Drink this outstanding value over the next 1-2 years. The best fruit from Chateau St. Jean's premier vineyards (including Robert Young, Belle Terre, and Durell) is set aside for this Reserve Chardonnay. Great care is taken to create a great bottle of wine, including aging in sur lie for 17 months in French oak barrels, and then bottle aging for an additional year before release.

White Wine by Chalk Hill from Sonoma County, California. Blend: 88% Sauvignon Blanc, 6% Semillon, 6% Sauvignon Gris Chalk Hill's Sauvignon Blanc captures the personality of their land and harnesses the capricious nature of the grape. They tend eleven clones of Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and Semillon. Every cluster was inspected for defects. After being whole-cluster pressed, this wine was 100% barrel fermented; 20% of the total saw stainless steel barrels, while 80% was in French oak. Both rich and elegant, the lush floral aromas of honey suckle and kaffir lime combine with a vibrant band of gooseberries and tropical fruit. The wine is lengthy, persistent, and represents an evolutionary leap in winemaking.

White Wine by Chalone from Central Coast, California. Grown entirely at our estate vineyard, the 2003 Chardonnay is an extremely fine and delicate wine with aromas of stone fruit and brioche. Ten months of sur lie aging in 100 percent French oak barrels gives texture and imparts complex aromas of vanilla and hazelnut. As is typical of Chalone Vineyard Chardonnay, the acidity is firm and bright and the wine possesses gobs of minerality from our unique limestone site. I like to call Chalone Vineyard Chardonnay the white wine for red wine drinkers. Its rich flavors, distinctive minerality and crisp acidity make it a versatile wine to complement rich, robust dishes such as pasta in cream sauces, roasted salmon, grilled chicken breast and pork chops.

White Wine by Chalone from Central Coast, California. The 2005 Pinot Blanc was whole-cluster pressed with no crushing or destemming of the grapes. The 21-day fermentation took place half in barrel with natural yeast, and half in stainless steel, inoculated with yeast. The wine was then aged for 9 months in French oak barrels to enhance the finish. Leaving the wine on the lees adds the signature hazelnut character typical of Chalone white wines and builds roundness and finish. This lovely wine offers bright flavors of crisp apple and brioche. It has a wonderful smooth and creamy texture, medium to full body and balanced acidity. Enjoy it on its own as an aperitif before a meal, or paired with chicken salad with tarragon and walnuts, poached dilled salmon or creamy pasta Alfredo.

Clos des Mouches is ideally located at the Southern end of the vineyards of Beaune on a spur pointing toward Pommard and falling to the plain on the East. This wine is well-concentrated with a hint of minerality that contributes to its long finish.
