The 2005 harvest saw plenty of sunshine and very little rain. These conditions produced intense flavors, aromatics and colors. The 2005 Hyland Shiraz expresses distinctive Coonawarra regionality and structure unique to the Penley Estate property. This elegant, full-bodied wine leads with aromas of ripe berry and spice followed by subtle smoky oak. Savory dark berry flavors with hints of white pepper are heightened by the velvety texture and finish. Drink now or cellar up to five years for additional complexity.

Palate: Vibrant cherry and raspberry fruit flavors on the palate complement the silky tannins and plump, generous flavors. A lingering warm, creamy oak finish with hints of cloves and nutmeg completes this medium bodied wine showing its classic, cool climate origins. Ideally suited to beef, duck & game, lamb.
