This wine displays deep colour, rich spicy fruit aromas and fresh toasty oak characters derived from nine months maturation in predominately American oak barriques.

Red Wine by Jim Barry from Clare Valley, Australia. This is a big, full-bodied Shiraz, showing colors of inky, deep red and purple hues. The nose displays ripe red/black fruit aromas, floral notes, strawberries, black cherry, raspberry, sweet fruity oak, charry and black pepper. The palate is rich and concentrated, with plummy, licorice, cherry, blackberry and some charry, toasty oak. The tannins are finely grained and well integrated.

Red Wine by Kilikanoon from Clare Valley, Australia. The best parcels of Clare Valley Shiraz were selected and blended to create our terroir based convenant Shiraz. Along with the finest Rieslings, the Clare Valley has produced some of the most sought after Shiraz wines in the world. Hand picked Shiraz fruit was selected from six vineyards throughout the Leasingham Valley with each being fermented separately, basket pressed and aged for 22 months in a combination of new and older French and American small oak casks. Intensely varietal with lifted aromas of black olives, spicy plums and charry oak characters predominate. These flavours carry through to the stylish and textured palate producing a seamless and persistent finish. An ageing potential of at least 12 - 15 years with careful cellaring. Appearance: Intense, inky / crimson red with distinct youthful, purple hues. Nose: Lifted sweet plum and berry fruits combine and integrate with the menthol, char and smoky oak characters. Palate: A great example of a full-bodied Clare Valley Shiraz, the palate being richly layered and textured. Chocolate and plum fruits create sweetness with classy French and American oak integrates and supports providing seamless length and flavor.

Leasingham has historically been recognized for its production of high quality red wine and Leasingham Bin 61 Shiraz represents true regionality and value in the red wine market. With all the hallmarks of the Clare Valley and Leasingham style this wine displays sweet fruit concentration and boldness of structure. The 2003 vintage provided a warm ripening period, resulting in the production of intense berry fruits and bold, fine tannins. Deep ruby red with purple hues and brilliant clarity, and a bouquet that displays intense spice, chocolate and coffee. The palate shows intense ripe blueberry and raspberry characters with layers of dark chocolate and mocha in the mid palate and a clean, lingering spicy finish. This wine is a Clare Valley Shiraz that shows all the hallmark characters of a warm year in the valley with soft, elegant tannnins in abundance. A great wine to drink now and/or cellar for the next decade. Food suggestion: Enjoy with suckling pig and salt bush lamb.
