Red Wine by Domaine de Nizas from Languedoc-Roussillon, France - regions. This AOC Coteaux du Languedoc is the Domaine's flagship wine and expresses the essence of the terroir of Caux-Nizas. The Syrah has floral expression and medium body on our types of soil, whilst the Mourvedre tends to be fuller bodied with good structure and complexity, which has not ceased to add to the palate since its introduction into the blend in 2001. As for the Grenache, it brings superb generosity and softness to the wine. The oak aging of part of the wine to be included in the final blend in large barrels, aims to enhance the Mediterranean character of our wines without dominating it. Thanks to its structure and balance, this fine wine from Languedoc can be cellared and aged for many years. Blend: 60% Syrah, 35% Mourvedre, 5% Grenache Noir

Red Wine by Domaine Famille Ligneres from Languedoc-Roussillon, France - regions. A nose of spicy blackberries and black cherries with a hint of menthol and allspice. Seamless, concentrated, single-vineyard blend of Carignane, Mourvedre, and Syrah with fruit flavors of dark, ripe black cherries, mineral and spice. Blend: Carignan 60%, Mourvedre 25%, Syrah 15% Aric is local dialect for Alaric, King of the Visigoths who gave his name to the mountain whose slopes conceal the Ligneres fabulous terroir. The surname of a grandmother, a direct descendant of those Barbarian warriors, was Amalric, and a question still haunts the family today: had Alaric known that his mountain possessed such wonderful wine, would he have plundered Rome in 410 AD?

A mouthful of delicious, juicy blackberries, cinnamon, and a judicious hint of oak. Blend: Carignan 80% , Grenache 10%, Syrah 5%, Mourvedre 5% In the 1920s, Louis Ligneres delivered the domaine's wines with his Berliet barrel-carrier truck to the Pyrenees Mountains. His customers couldn't be impatient: it took him 22 hours at an average speed of 11km/h (6.8mph) to go from Alaric Mountain to Lourdes! And he announced his arrival with the Signal of the truck's characteristic horn.

Red Wine by Ey from Languedoc-Roussillon, France - regions. A deep ruby red color. An aromatic bouquet with scents of candied cherry, cocoa and mint. Full-bodied and well-knit, displaying red fruit flavors together with nuances chocolate and cedar. 35% Grenache, 35% Carignan, and 30% Syrah. Outstanding served with grilled meats, hearty stews and aged cheeses. Vigne Lavail is part of a collection of single-vineyard wines from the Roussillon, each carefully selected by the Ey (pronounced like the letter A) family. The Lavail vineyard is located in the village of Maury in southern France's Roussillon district. Nicolas Battle, winemaker, belongs in the vanguard of a dynamic new generation of enologists. Battle's viticultural philosophy embraces sustainable agriculture, which reduces the use of artificial fertilizers and pesticides to a minimal level. This environmentally friendly approach requires constant monitoring of the vineyard and care on a vine per vine basis.

Red Wine by Goats do Roam from South Africa. An innovative blend of rich spicy Shiraz and a brooding Pinotage, with Mourvedre adding spice and tannin structure. Full bodied, ripe tannins with good length and structure, backed by careful oaking. This wine certainly has the structure and tannin to age for 3 - 5 years.

Red Wine by Goats do Roam from South Africa. The grapes were harvested from vineyards in the Paarl, Perdeberg, Piekenierskloof and Malmesbury regions. The majority of grapes are sourced from dry farmed old bush vines. These vineyards provide low yields, resulting in wine with considerable concentration. This vintage has for the first time incorporated fruit from Stellenbosch, adding ripe, supple tannins to the blend. Colour: Vibrant brick red. Aroma: Ripe red fruit, with a fragrant lift, with liquorice and spice notes. Palate: Fruit follows through, with fragrant notes completing the medium bodied mouthfeel. Well integrated with a smooth finish. Cellaring: The wine is ready for drinking. Enjoy over the next year or two.

Red Wine by Grant Burge from Barossa Valley, Australia. The Holy Trinity is modeled on the Rhone-style blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre, which is ideal for the climate and winemaking techniques of the Barossa Valley. Grant Burge reveres the outstanding quality this wine style produces in the Barossa and believes this blend has the ability to become as well known in the Barossa as Shiraz.

Red Wine by Hewitson from Barossa Valley, Australia. This blend of 55% Grenache, 33% Shiraz and 12% Mourvedre is simply delicious. Dean Hewitson has yet again crafted a intensely flavored and elegant wine, appropriately named after his daughter Harriet, better known as Miss Harry. Wonderful aromas of ripe cherry and plum jump out of the glass. On the palate is filled with sweet ripe red fruits, with hints of spice and mocha adding to its charm. Averagely intense bouquet, rich, complex, with aromas of very ripe red fruit (raspberry, blackberry), soft spices, and a light peppery touch of Garrigue blossom. Attractive impression of fullness enveloping a fine structure of elegant, soft tannins. Classic balance of alcohol and tannin, with a long and elegant finish. Red Wine by Kangarilla Road from McLaren Vale, Australia. Aromas of lifted spice with ripe dark berry and light conserve fruit balanced with integrated oak. This extraordinary wine has long, full, integrated flavor with spice, dark fruits and finishes with an abundance of soft tannins. The 2005 vintage followed good soaking rains during the prior 2004 winter. The gentle Spring yielded excellent bud burst, early shoot growth and full canopies, creating optimum ripening conditions. The summer of 2005 brought mild, daytime temperatures and typical, cool nights. The resultant wines show intense fruit and excellent balancing acidity. Les Deux Rives is a blend of wines from the best vineyards of the Val d'Orbieu, the most acclaimed wine company in the Languedoc region of France. The name, Les Deux Rives, refers to the twin banks of the Canal du Midi built in 1600 by Louis XIV to help develop the economy of southern France and was one of the most important routes for transporting wines of the Languedoc-Roussillon to northern France, greater Europe and beyond. The label is inspired by a 1920s postcard of the Canal.

Red Wine by Marti Fabra from Spain. Aged 10 months in French oak, the unfined/unfiltered 2003 Marti Fabra Seleccio Vinyes Velles (70% Grenache, 10% Carignan, 10% Tempranillo, and equal parts Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon) exhibits a rich, sweet perfume of black cherries and earth, an elegant attack, medium to full body, good depth as well as ripeness, and a long finish. Marti Fabra, a newcomer to the increasingly interesting Spanish wine scene, is located in an appellation that is revealing wonderful potential with its old vine Grenache and Carignan as well as its newer plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Tempranillo. -Wine Advocate

Red Wine by Onix from Priorat, Spain. This surely must be the best value from the pricey D.O. of Priorat as well as one of the great deals in this Spanish report. The unoaked 2005 Onix is the best vintage of this wine to date, a blend of old-vine (average age 55 years) Garnacha and Carinena. The wine has a lovely nose of mineral and ripe cherries, nicely layered and intensely flavored, with a lengthy finish. This is one to buy by the case! -Wine Advocate

Red Wine by Onix from Priorat, Spain. Bright red. Spicy, mineral-accented raspberry on the nose. Fresh, lucid red berry flavors are complicated by floral pastille and anise, and finish with good acid cut and lift. Seems devoid of tannins. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 88 Points

Red Wine by Oxford Landing from South Australia, Australia. The nose shows bright fruit aromas of fragrant raspberries and plums, a hint of white pepper and a dash of nutmeg and allspice. The palate is generous and fruit driven with layers of cherries, red berried and spice from the Grenache. Fuller plum and dark fruit flavors from the Shiraz priovide flesh and weight in the mid palate with the fine soft tannins providing structure and a slightly savory finish.

Red Wine by Perrin from Chateauneuf-du-Pape, France - Rhone. Perrin Chateauneuf du Pape Les Sinards is made from the traditional varieties of Chateauneuf du Pape from Chateau de Beaucastel's own vineyard and from other top quality growers in the appellation. Predominately Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvedre, the wine is rich and silky with a deep red color. With the gamy, earthy quality that Beacastel is know for, Les Sinards is long on the palate with rounded tannins.
