Red Wine by Tenuta San Guido from Tuscany, Italy. By the same producers of the famed Sassicaia, the grapes are grown in a vineyard on lands adjacent to the Sassicaia vineyard. The grape varieties are approximately 45% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvingnon and 10% Sangiovese. The grapes are vinified in a new cellar created especially by the Tenuta San Guido in the locality known as 'Vecchio Frantoio (Old Olive Press) not far from the town of Bolgheri. The 2005 vintage was fermented in steel vats at controlled temperatures with a maceration period of 15 days for the the Merlot and the Cabernet Sauvignon and 12 days for the Sangiovese. The wine was then aged in French and American oak barriques for 14 months, one-third of the barriques being new ones. Wonderful aromas of crushed blackberry and cherry follow through to a full-bodied palate, with velvety tannins and a long finish. Needs time to develop in the bottle, but hard not to drink now. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Best after 2009. -Wine Spectator

Red Wine by Terlato Vineyards from Sonoma County, California. In France's Rhone Valley, the Syrah grape shows off its full flavor in classic appellations like Cote Rotie and Hermitage. In Australia, Syrah is Shiraz, and the brawny reds from the land down under have made Shiraz Australia's signature varietal. In the United States, Terlato Vineyards 2003 Syrah Dry Creek Valley combines the best of both worlds. Terlato Vineyards found perfect Syrah conditions in Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley, which shares important characteristics with the Rhone Valley. With luscious fruit and the best concepts of the Old and New Worlds, the winemaking team crafted a voluptuous wine with flavors of black cherry, plum, and currants, and hints of violets. Though ready today, Syrah is slow to mature, so the inaugural vintage will benefit with a few years of cellaring. It has the attributes to be a monumental wine. Rated 91/100 by Anthony Dias Blue.

Red Wine by Terre Rouge from Sierra Foothills, California. Tête-à-Tête is our fun easy drinking assemblage of Mediterranean varietals (in 2003 - its 70% Mourvèdre,19% Syrah & 11 % Grenache). We blend it with current drinkability in mind, for drinking both at homeand as a restaurant pour. We generally put it together from our younger vines and our more forwardtasting barrel lots. 2003 was a year where most of our Rhône varietal lots excelled. Red Wine by Tintara from McLaren Vale, Australia. The McLaren Vale region is strongly maritime influenced, with considerable variation in climate between the hill slopes and the sea. The hills produce favorable seasonal rains while the coast brings ripening sunshine softened by cooling breezes. Tintara fruit is 100% McLaren Vale and includes only the absolute best lots from both estate-owned and contracted vineyards. The vineyards age to 70 years and these provide the dense character and powerful dark fruit aromas found in Tintara. The fruit for this wine was destemmed and crushed into 4 and 7-ton open-top fermenters. The wine was tasted 3 times daily and the fermentation temperature and extraction regime adjusted at each tasting to maximize flavor extraction, keeping tannin in balance with the fruit intensity. When the tannin and fruit balance were extracted to the desired level, the wines were basket pressed to tank. After settling for 24 hours, the wine was racked into French oak barrels. The 2002 vintage is ripe and juicy in flavor with currants, black fruits and a rich palate of leather, earth and spice, giving way to a long and balanced finish.
