Red Wine by Antinori from Tuscany, Italy. Santa Cristina was originally introduced in 1946 as a Chianti Classico by Piero Antinori's father, Niccol?. However, with the passage of the 1984 DOCG laws - spearheaded by Piero Antinori - requiring lower vineyard yields, Chianti Classico grapes became so complex and rich that they required more aging than this fruity fresh wine should have to maintain its style and character. Therefore, with the 1987 vintage, Santa Cristina moved away from the Chianti Classico designation, and with the 1994 vintage Antinori began including 10% Merlot to the blend to add soft, open fruit nuances to the wine. Santa Cristina is ruby red in color with purple hues. Intense fresh fruit aromas with pleasant floral hints. Well-structured, soft and harmonious. Sweet tannin and lingering fruit in the finish.

Red Wine by Archery Summit from Willamette Valley, Oregon. Scarlet red in color, the 2006 Premier Cuvee opens with lifted aromas of black cherries, rose petal, vanilla and a hint of savory spice. Pomegranate, currant floral notes notes mingle on the palate with mulling spices, anise, juicy plum and clean earth. The wine is sumptuous and bright with layers of mineral, flint and spice surrounding a seductive black cherry core. There is balance and good concentration; tannins are rich but restrained, revealing a wine with depth of flavor and clean lines. Succulent and focused, this wine is ready for enjoyment now, however may improve with proper cellaring over the next five to eight years.

Archipel is the French word for Archipelago, an string of islands rising above the sea, and that meaning is carried over to the sourcing of fruit for the new Archipel wine, a Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. For this limited production wine, world acclaimed winemaker Pierre Seillan selected only those mountain peak vineyards in Napa and Sonoma that, on a foggy morning, sit above the clouds like a archipelago island sits upon the misty sea. This wine is the essence of California Mountain fruit expressed with French undertones, epitomizing modern sophistication, both in it's mountain structure supporting a vibrant fruit profile, as well as it's contemporary image which appeals to those intrigued by unique wines and progressive thinking. On the nose our Pinot Noir is an open and generous wine with an outstanding sweetness as well as blackberry and strawberry aromas, joined with spices such as vanilla and cinnamon as a result of barrel ageing. On the palate, after a while, fruit and spicy aromas reappear, as at the beginning, on the nose. An easy-drinking wine, very complex and mild.

Red Wine by Argiolas from Sardinia, Italy. Blend: 90% Cannonau, 5% Carignano and 5% Bovale Sardo The intense, ruby red color of this wine tends toward orange with age. The full bouquet of sweet black cherry, pepper, and licorice is typical of the Cannonau grape. Warm and full bodied on the palate with excellent texture, ripe fruit flavors and pleasant tannins, Costera is an excellent food wine that is best enjoyed with roast beef with herbs, filet mignon, stews and sharp cheeses.

Red Wine by Argiolas from Sardinia, Italy. A blend of 90% Monica, 5% Carignano and 5% Bovale Sardo grown in the Perdera vineyard. The intense ruby red color of this wine is typical of the Monica grape. Persistent aromas of ripened cherry, cassis and black pepper carry through to the palate and are followed by sweet hints of chocolate and firm tannins. Very vibrant, rich and rustic. An excellent wine with spicy food, pasta with tomato or meat sauces, casseroles, and medium aged cheeses.

Red Wine by Argyle from Willamette Valley, Oregon. Dark, rich red in color. The aromas of this wine are multitudinous, or is that multistage, or multifarious. Red fruit as in concentrated pomegranate is woven into black fruit as in Marion berry, with a frill of blueberry tart. A wonderful Guinee rose scent spirals out of the glass. The flavor is dense yet very juicy textured, especially in the center of the palate. Pomegranate and Marion berry meld with spice. The finish is long, succulent, and ends with a dark chocolate note.

Red Wine by Argyle from Willamette Valley, Oregon. This Pinot Noir has a seductively rich, super dark ruby-violet color. Aromas leap out of the glass with black cherry, black cherry leather and cedar, along with a ripping portion of cinnamon spice. The wine finishes with a hint of violet flower patch. Use of new oak was delicate, so the aromas are authentic Pinot Noir. The flavor is a big juicy mouthful, with firm tannin structure framed by velvet texture. The fruit is all about black cherry all the way to a very long finish. Spice of far away lands rounds out the complexity of this exciting, cool-season vintage Pinot Noir.

Red Wine by Arrowood from Sonoma County, California. Arrowood 2002 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is an outstanding California Cab from start to finish. In 2002, when the harvested grapes went through the press, Richard Arrowood noted the juice's intense black fruit flavors and unbelievable aromatics and colors. He foresaw a blockbuster year for this fabulous vintage and he was right on the money. The majority of fruit for the 2002 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was grown on hillside vineyards in the Sonoma Valley; a region known to yield some of the most concentrated and balanced Cabernet Sauvignon in Sonoma County. After aging lots separately in seasoned French oak barrels and a small amount of American oak barrels for 23 months, only the finest was selected to blend and return to French oak barrels for another five months of aging. The resultant wine is a perfect vision of violet with purple hues and tones of brick-red around the edges. It shows certain richness and there is no shortage of complexity. Rich aromatics of black cherry, cassis and leather introduce the palate to a symphony of flavor profiles with black fruit in the forefront of undertones and overtones of plump, ripe fruit in this full bodied wine. The tannins are in harmony, bringing structure and balance with a long, lovely finish. This wine should evolve and age with grace throughout at least the next two decades. Arrowood 2002 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a true pleasure to enjoy on its own, and pairs well with many different foods. Serve it with grilled meats or seafood, or favorite pasta topped with a rich, bold red sauce.

Blend: 89.9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7.2% Merlot, 1.6% Malbec, 1.3% Petit Verdot For vineyards, this Cabernet combines Arrowood's favorite bench, hillside and mountain sites (many organically farmed) in Sonoma, Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys. By blending lots from a variety of sources, Richard Arrowood is able to capture the character of the vintage and the essence of Sonoma County Cabernet. The color is deep and youthful. The nose is a mix of ripe dark fruits, cassis, sandalwood and violets. The palate is rich and mouth-coating with tannins that are clearly present, yet beautifully integrated. This is a delicious, full-bodied Cabernet that will bring great pleasure over the next decade.

Red Wine by Artazu from Spain. 100% up to 80 year old vine Garnacha. The Artazu project was created by the legendary winegrower Juan Carlos Lopez de la Calle of Rioja's famous Artadi estate. The goal was to take the same quest for varietal purity that Juan seeks in Tempranillo to the Garnacha varietal. The small village of Artazu in the northernmost zone of Navarra was chosen for its extraordinary old vines of Garnacha producing wines of dark, peppery fruit with amazing balance and soft tannins.

Personally selected for Artezin, this fruit comes from some of California's finest Zinfandel regions including Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley, Amador (Shenandoah Valley), and Mendocino (Ukiah Valley). Deep ruby red in color, this Zinfandel shows forward blackberry and raspberry aromas melding with black pepper, licorice and currants. Black cherry flavors follow with nutmeg, allspice, pepper, and dark chocolate undertones while the texture is rich and round with some sweet tannins giving backbone and structure. Meant for immediate enjoyment, this handcrafted 2005 Artezin is a true classic of varietal expression.

Sleek, ultra-supple tannins support the vivid red fruits, fresh plum-stone and ripe black cherry notes. Dark chocolate and rose scents add intrigue and promise, as do the fine savory threads which run through the palate. Taut and restrained when young, this vibrant Pinot will in time reveal its wilder, earthier side, along with voluptuous fruit spun in a shawl of silky tannins.
