Red Wine by Almira from Spain. 93% Garnacha, 7% Syrah From slopes on the edge of the Sierra Iberica, just south of Navarra where Garnacha is king, this special cuvee blends 7% Syrah with rich Grenache produced from vines of 35 to 50 years of age. The resultant wine exhibits an elegance rarely encountered in the wines from this DO. Fermentation is classical, with no carbonic maceration. Aging is wholly in stainless steel. The wine is immediately aromatic, full and friendly on the palate and finishes with a refined length. It is composed of 93% Garnacha and 7% Syrah and sees no oak. This dark ruby-colored wine offers plenty of ripe raspberry fruit with a hint of mineral on the nose and palate. It has surprising depth and length for its humble price making it a Best Buy. Blend: 80% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon As a result of no wood contact, this Rosso has a vibrant ruby red color and a fresh bouquet with scents of ripe forest fruits. Inviting and fragrant on the palate, it offers excellent body and sound structure. An excellent value, Rosso di Altesino is the wine of choice for pasta, white meats and semi-soft cheese.

Red Wine by Alto Moncayo from Spain. The estate's mid-level effort is the fairly priced Alto Moncayo. This wine is spectacular, and represents the perfect foil for grilled steak. Even richer, fuller, and more muscular than the 2003, with riveting intensity and palate staining extract, the 2004 Alto Moncayo is inky/purple, full-bodied, and rich. This pedal-to-the-metal offering should age handsomely for a decade. -Wine Advocate

Red Wine by Alto Moncayo from Spain. Dark purple. The nose offers surreal, room-filling perfume of ripe raspberry, blackberry, incense, vanilla and dried flowers. Shockingly understated on the palate, with vibrant red berry, smoked meat and baking spice flavors, silky tannins and crisp mineral bite. There's no excess fat or sweetness here. Finishes with palate-staining intensity and superb focus. I'd love to see this lined up with some mega-bucks Napa cult wines costing twice the price of this admittedly luxe-priced bottle. If you play in this sandbox, you'll flip. -International Wine Cellar The 2005 Aquilon has a splendid perfume of slate, violets, and cherry compote. There is beautiful integration of oak, tannin, and acidity, a smooth texture, layers of flavor, and exceptional length. Red Wine by Alto Moncayo from Spain. Inky purple. A heady bouquet evokes ripe red berries, anise, mocha and pungent fresh flowers. Supple and sweet on entry, then more structured in the middle, offering deep, mineral-accented dried strawberry and cherry liqueur flavors. Takes a spicy turn on the long, sappy finish, which echoes the pure red berry qualities. The oak (all new) is almost shockingly understated, perhaps thanks to the reported four-year aging of the staves. -International Wine Cellar The 2005 Alto Moncayo Veraton is 100% Garnacha aged in new French and American oak for 17 months. Dark ruby-colored, it exhibits an alluring nose of toasty new oak, mineral, spice box, black cherry, and black raspberry. This leads to a wine bordering on opulence, with layers of fruit, some structure, and a long, pure finish. Drink it over the next 8-10 years. -Wine Advocate

Red Wine by Altocedro from Argentina, South America. Blend: 85% Malbec, 15% Tempranillo Aged for 12 months in oak with deeply saturated blue-purple color which attests to the wine's power and concentration. The palate shows flavor of pure ripe berry and plum, with a nuance of sweet tobacco. The tannins are rounded and develop generously into a rich mouth-filling finish.

Red Wine by Amisfield from Central Otago, New Zealand. The wine is a deep ruby/magenta with a deep concentrated ripe Pinot nose of dark cherries, violets, mocha and spice. The palate is very powerful with lush ripe dark fruits overlaying a seamless powdery tannin profile suggesting hints of cocoa, cedar and minerals. The finish is long and complex with the French oak integrating into the wine perfectly. Definitely a keeper from a stunning vintage. Cellar for at least 10 years.

Red Wine by Anapamu from Central Coast, California. This wine is a ruby garnet color, with aromas of cherry and rose petals accented by citrus peel and spice typical of Central Coast Pinot Noir. On the palate, the wine is silky and elegant, with juicy cherry flavors, toasty oak notes, and a complex, lingering finish. Try with pepper-crusted seared tuna or leg of lamb roasted with spring vegetables.

Blend: 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, 22% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot At this point, it is a wine of bearing with pure fruit flavors and good structure, as well as a sense of self-possession and charm. This wine will undoubtedly need some time to show its promise.

Red Wine by Andrew Will from Yakima Valley, Washington. Blend: 48% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot The nose is a lovely blend of earth and fruit and is quite forward for such a young wine. The wine is medium bodied offset by depth and a sense of promise. This is a stalwart wine with well defined delicate shading. The fruit profile is red fruit with floral aromas mixed with a kind of earthy spiciness.

Red Wine by Angoves from McLaren Vale, Australia. The fruit for this wine is grown in the foothills of the Adelaide range as you leave the beach side town of McLaren Vale. The sandy loam soils rise and gently face the west, allowing the vines to soak up the warm afternoon rays of the sun. The cooling evening breezes, which flow from the sea up the valley floor, give the vines relief during the summer nights and allow steady maturation of the berries while preserving elegance and natural acidity. This medium to full-bodied Shiraz displays upfront cherry and licorice aromas and secondary spicy oak so characteristic of McLaren Vale Shiraz. The full palate shows more luscious ripe berry fruit, with complexity provided by soft mouth filling tannins. The freshness shows potential for aging, but the softness allows enjoyment now.

This is the first release of Anne Amie's Winemaker's Selection Pinot Noir, which is a synergistic blend of their finest barrels. These wines are then married to create a harmonious whole defined by the style and elegance of wines from distinctive vineyards of great character. The wine is a brilliant light ruby with sparkling garnet highlights. Leaping from the glass are smoky touches of oak laced with exotic spices and tart ripe wild cherry fruit. It is graceful and balanced on the palate with gripping wild red raspberry fruit flavors layered over hints of sweet tobacco, new leather and touches of just cracked vanilla beans. The finish is firm with a racy, tart acidity that makes the wine very lively and fresh bringing lightness of spirit to the rich fruit and oak flavors. The elegant structure of this wine gives mouthwatering zest and a distinctive Oregonian style. While drinkable now, the firm structure and balance would suggest several more years of aging before reaching its peak.

Red Wine by Anne Amie from Willamette Valley, Oregon. This is a classic Oregon Pinot Noir. Dark garnet in color, the fragrant bouquet is filled with aromas of spices, fresh black raspberries and hints of toasty oak. On the palate, it is racy and firm with flavors laced with cranberries and bittersweet black cherries highlighted with touches of fresh sage and cinnamon. The finish is lively and long with a clean freshness that invites the next sip. Drink the Cuvee A Pinot Noir young to preserve its lively freshness.

The Copper Trail Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre is made with a minimal intervention approach, retaining and enhancing the natural expression of the fruit. The wine has aromas of blackcurrant and licorice with a hint of cinnamon, enhanced by subtle use of oak. Warm spice tones and a long velvety finish characterize the full, soft, and rich palate. This savory style of wine is the perfect complement to richly flavored food. Ruby red. Suave, powerful aromas of blackberry, kirsch, roasted coffee and licorice candy. Lush and smooth in texture, offering concentrated, well-defined flavors of dark and red berry liqueur, cured tobacco and dark chocolate, with harmonious oak spice notes adding sweetness and complexity. Red Wine by Antinori from Tuscany, Italy. Extraordinary intense ruby red in color. Intensely fruity, more of cherry than cassis, with hints of toast, coffee and dark chocolate. Finely structured and complex; balanced, with soft tannins and a lingering finish. Displays unmistakable varietal flavor while retaining strong regional character. Guado al Tasso, meaning literally Badger's Ford, takes its name from a common sight at the estate of Tenuta Guado al Tasso, Bolgheri, where it is produced. The vineyard is at an elevation between 44 and 58 metres (145 and 190 feet) above sea-level on stony, slightly calcareous soils. Tenuta Guado al Tasso is located 60 miles southwest of Florence, near the medieval village of Bolgheri, in an area known as the Maremma. The 900 hectares (2,223 acres) estate stretches up from the shore of the Tyrrhenian Sea to the hills, and aside from extensive vineyards, also grows wheat, corn, sunflowers, tomatoes and olive trees. Guado al Tasso was first produced in 1990. All the vintages have been produced in limited quantities. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Syrah and other red grape varieties.

Intense ruby red color with light garnet hues. Vibrant aromas of citrus marmalade, dried fruit and sultanas. Full-bodied, solidly structured lingering palate with a pleasantly tannic finish. Hints of licorice in the aftertaste.
