Vintage by Dom Perignon from Champagne, France - regions. The commitment of Dom Perignon is a commitment to creation. It's a quest for excellence; it is about taking risk, taking a challenge from the vintage, making it to the style of Dom Perignon. Every single vintage of Dom Perignon is an exclusive wine; it is the harmonious dialogue of style and vintage. Dom Perignon Vintage 1999 goes straight to the heart of Dom Perignon. This wine is radiant, pure and vibrant. It is a story of seduction and sensuality. The 1999 Harvest: Changeable, often unexpected, weather. Average temperatures were high and a very dry period gave way to almost tropical conditions in late summer, with strong winds and frequent hailstorms. The rainfall during harvesting did not affect this healthy and abundant crop with an exceptionally powerful and well-rounded character. On The Nose: This wine is full of life, with a fresh nose that dances through a spiral of aromas, blending hints of angelica, dried flowers, pineapple, coconut, cinnamon, cocoa and tobacco. In The Mouth: With a fullness in the mouth, its earthy, smoky, pearly complexity rises to the surface, underscored by the vibrant warmth of peppery spice. The sensation of intensity develops and melts into a deep, rounded heart, with a fruity, exotic maturity and a slight touch of aniseed. This sensation, almost unsettling, is even more pronounced in the finish, while the notes of spice, still present, remain discreet, with toasted, iodine flavors. p> 96 points Robert Parker in the Hedonist's Gazette: I was fortunate to have the newly released 1999 Dom Perignon, which is a spectacular Champagne. Based on one bottle, I would not rate it as highly as the 1996 or 1990, but it is much better than the 1998, and appears to have more body and richness than the 1995, also a top-notch vintage. The 1999 should have at least 20 years of life ahead of it.

Vintage by Dom. Carneros from Carneros, California. The 2004 vintage was the earliest harvest in memory. The early spring was followed by nearly ideal ripening conditions and the crop was small, as were 2002 and 2003. The resulting Brut cuvee is one of Dom. Carneros' most fragrant vintages. The 2004 cuvee is composed of 61% Pinot Noir, 37% Chardonnay and 2% Pinot Blanc. Approximately 9% of the cuvee underwent malolactic fermentation prior to blending the cuvee for tirage bottling. The wine has been aged for three years prior to release and will further age gracefully in your cellar (if you can resist opening). This cuvee has wonderful fruit aromas of pears, baked apples and citrus peel enhanced with hints of caramel, spice. The wine is unusually round for its age, very mouth-filling and with a long creamy finish. Lovely served with double or triple cream cheeses, it also matches especially well with fish, shellfish, poultry and most Asian dishes.

Non-Vintage by Domaine Chandon from Carneros, California. This Carneros-designated Blanc de Noirs has a delicate copper color and fruit aromas of strawberry and cherry overlaid with warm cocoa from Pinot Noir. Its softer cousin Pinot Meunier contributes a warm spice, almost clove character with overtones of orange peel and freshly baked bread. To enhance this Cuvee 391, wines from the 1991 vintage were blended with selected 'vin de reserve' held back from previous years. 1991 was characterized by cool conditions during maturation and harvest, critical to flavor development for sparkling wine. Three years of aging lends this wine breadth and body, while retaining its freshness and fruitiness. The balance is stylishly crisp, reflecting the Carneros region's full ripe flavors. Light gold hue. Forward apple and ginger scents show a defined earthiness. Creamy flavors of orange, butternut, pecan and vanilla. Long close is round and smooth. -Wine News

Vintage by Dom. Ste. Michelle from Columbia Valley, Washington. Luxe is a very delicate Blanc de Blancs sparkling wine crafted in the time-honored methode champenoise tradition. As in Champagne, only free run juice is used which results in extremely delicate flavors. For the 1999 vintage, juice was feremted in French oak after inoculation and aged for 12 months to build layers of flavor and creaminess. The second fermentation in the bottle lasted 20 weeks and then the wine was aged for 3.5 years for added complexity. Even in the glass this sparkling wine will tempt you - a beautiful very pale yellow sparkler with loads of tiny bubbles promises good things to come. Enticing aromas of grapefruit, lemon and pear fill the nose. On the palate tropical pineapple notes are complimented with subtle hints of ginger and a creamy soft mouthfeel. Non-Vintage by Gosset from Champagne, France - regions. Aromas of pear and honeysuckle perfume the bouquet. This is a beautifully balanced champagne with a long, expressive finish. Gosset only uses juice from the first and best pressing of grapes, and unlike most other producers, initial fermentation is still carried out in small oak barrels. Riddling and disgorgement are performed by hand. Significantly, and in contrast to virtually all other houses, Gosset Champagnes do not undergo a malolactic fermentation, resulting in a heightened acidity, slower maturing wines and that inimitable Gosset style - powerful and full-bodied, of unrivaled richness and staying power - in other words, some of the world's most legendary Champagne.
